Essay
Keter crowns the Tree at the summit of the middle pillar, the pillar of equilibrium. It receives nothing from any emanation above it — only from the boundlessness that precedes the whole figure — and it gives, undivided, to the wisdom and understanding that first split its light into two. To draw the Crown is to be shown a beginning that has not yet become anything in particular, a will present before it has chosen a direction.
Its virtue is attainment: the completion that arrives without being seized or owned, the way a summit is reached by walking rather than by grasping. Its shadow is the same height gone cold — a detached abstraction that hovers over every particular life without ever touching one, mistaking altitude for arrival. Lived, the difference is whether your sense of the whole still keeps faith with the small, actual thing in front of you.
When the Crown is drawn, sit with it as a contemplation, not a forecast. Let attention rest, as its meditation suggests, in the blank interval before a thought forms, and simply notice the wish that is there before any object attaches to it. Ask what you are reaching for beneath all the things you think you want — and whether you could let that reaching stay open a while longer instead of closing it prematurely around a plan. The name held here, E-hyeh, points toward pure being-about-to-be; you need do nothing with it but let it remind you that origin is a place to begin from, never a possession to defend.

Which doors border this sephira depends on the arrangement. Both the Gra/Ari (default) and Golden Dawn schemes are shown; the doctrinal difference is not hidden — it is a matter of lineage, not error.
