Which letter belongs to which path is not settled across schools. This site draws the Gra / Ari arrangement as its default; the Golden Dawn arrangement is noted as the alternative.

Tension
The camel crosses the waterless stretch, carrying provision from the heights into the distance. The two ends of this path are parted by the longest desert: the traveller must carry water within — the memory kept alive through days when nothing answers.
Essay
Gimel is the camel — its name shares a root with the beast, and the pictograph is read as its lifted neck — and its value is three. Among the seven double letters of the Sefer Yetzirah, each sounded hard and soft, Gimel is assigned to the Moon, the body that carries reflected light across the night and crosses the sky as the camel crosses the waste. It is the letter of the long haul, the animal that stores what it will need where nothing is given.
Where the path hangs is not agreed. This site uses the GRA arrangement, which runs Gimel down the pillar of mercy from Wisdom to Mercy — from the seed-flash of insight to the open hand that would pour it out. The later Golden Dawn attribution, noted here as an alternative, draws it instead straight up the middle from the Crown to Beauty, across the Tree's longest gap. Either way the camel crosses a waterless stretch, carrying provision from the heights into the distance; the two ends are parted by the longest desert on the figure. The tension of the path is that the traveller must carry water within — the memory kept alive through the days when nothing answers, when no insight arrives and the far end is not yet in sight.
When Gimel is drawn, hold it as contemplation, not a forecast of arrival. In the manner of hitbonenut, sit with a stretch of your life that feels like crossing without reply, and ask what inner provision you laid up for exactly this — what you know in the dry season that you first learned in a wetter one. The letter promises no oasis; it only turns your attention to the water you are already carrying.
