Four instruments, one practice

About MANIFOLD GATES

MANIFOLD GATES offers four symbolic traditions as instruments for contemplation. A ritual cast sets you in one place within a tradition — and, unlike the classical texts, where a tradition has neighbouring states you see them all at once.

I

Four instruments, one practice

Six Doors, Septem Portae, Lamed-Bet and Tarot are four different traditions, held to one practice: the same sealed draw, the same care with the sources, the same plain reading.

That is why the practice feels the same across all four: you ask, you cast, you see where the cast set you, and you receive a reading anchored to the exact facts of that cast. Only the symbols change.

Every cast is provably fair. Before your first toss the server publishes a commitment to its secret seed; your own taps feed into each outcome; and afterward the seed is revealed so you can recompute the whole cast yourself.

II

What this is — and is not

This is an instrument for contemplation, not prophecy. It makes no claims about fate, and it offers no medical, financial, or legal advice. The reading is a mirror held at an angle, meant to show you your own question more clearly — not an oracle to obey.

The AI reading is bound to the structure of your cast and always closes on a single, small, actionable reflection. When a question touches on harm, illness, or a heavy decision, the reading steps back into plain self-reflection and points you toward people better placed to help.

III

On the traditions

I Ching

The Book of Changes reads sixty-four hexagrams as a map of how situations turn into one another. We use only public-domain source text and write our own plain paraphrases; the structure — six lines, each able to turn — is treated as a way of seeing change, not a system for predicting it.

Hermeticism

The Hermetic ascent through the planetary spheres, drawn from the Corpus Hermeticum, frames the seven natures a soul refines on the way up — and carries back down. We keep the tradition's own insistence that descent is honourable, not a fall.

Kabbalah

Kabbalah is a living tradition within Judaism, not a museum of symbols, and we treat it with that care. Divine names are shown abbreviated by default, the material is offered for contemplation rather than spectacle, and the path arrangements we use are presented as one honest reading among several. Nothing here is religious instruction.

IV

Fairness you can check

We use commit–reveal. Before you toss anything, the server locks in a secret seed and shows you only its fingerprint — a hash it cannot change afterward. Each step then mixes that seed with entropy from your own taps to produce the outcome. When the cast is done, the seed is revealed, and you can confirm its fingerprint matches and re-derive every single step in your own browser.

The point is to keep the ritual real — your interaction genuinely shapes the result — while making it impossible for us to have steered it.

Common questions

01

Is this fortune-telling?

No. MANIFOLD GATES makes no claims about fate and offers no medical, financial, or legal advice. A reading is a structured mirror: it helps you see your own question more clearly, and what you do next remains entirely yours.

02

How do I know a cast wasn't manipulated?

Every cast is sealed before your first toss: the server publishes a hash of its secret seed, your own taps feed entropy into each step, and after the reveal you can recompute the whole cast in your browser on the verify page. Nobody — including us — can steer a result after the commitment.

03

Which instrument should I start with?

If a concrete situation is moving — a decision, a change — start with Six Doors, the I Ching. For questions about where you stand on a longer journey, try Septem Portae. For the tension between two forces, Lamed-Bet. When in doubt, Six Doors is the oldest door.

04

Do I need to believe in anything for this to be useful?

No. The instruments work as structured randomness plus a long tradition of images for thinking about change. A skeptic can use a cast the way one uses a journal prompt: as a fixed point around which to examine a question honestly.

05

What happens to my question text?

It is encrypted at rest, sent to the language model only when you explicitly request a reading, never used for training, and you can delete everything permanently from your history page. The privacy page states the full practice.

06

What does the AI actually add?

The traditional correspondence reading is always available and free. The AI reading is anchored to the structural facts of your specific cast — its lines, its doors, its changes — and closes on one small, actionable reflection. If the AI is unavailable, the reading degrades gracefully and any points are refunded.
