Minor Arcana · Wands

Five of Wands

Everyone is pushing, nobody is aimed.

Upright · Reversed

Keywords: friction, competing energies
Upright: Conflict without an enemy — several live forces in one space. Noisy, usually survivable, and clarifying if anyone names the actual stake.
Reversed: Friction avoided into stagnation; or a scuffle escalated past its worth.

In a three-card spread

In the Past position: Read as what is still exerting force — not what happened, but the part of it still pushing on the present.
In the Present position: Read as what is currently available, and where you actually stand. The spread usually turns on this card.
In the Future position: Read as tendency: where this leans if nothing changes. A statement about the present phrased as a direction — never a claim about what will happen.

Wands · Element: Fire

Wands govern drive: will, enthusiasm, the force that starts things. Their question is not whether a thing is right but whether there is still fire for it. Wands trouble is usually excess — burning too fast, carrying too much, charging in a direction nobody tested.

Its rank

Five

Five is the Four's stability broken: loss, conflict, want. None of the Fives are comfortable, and all of them say the same thing — an arrangement that no longer holds is coming apart.
