Minor Arcana · Pentacles

Seven of Pentacles

Grown, not ripe. The waiting is the work.

Upright · Reversed

Keywords: assessment, the pause before harvest
Upright: Stepping back to judge whether the investment is working. Honest assessment, before more is committed.
Reversed: Pulling it up to check the roots; or tending something already known to be barren.

In a three-card spread

In the Past position: Read as what is still exerting force — not what happened, but the part of it still pushing on the present.
In the Present position: Read as what is currently available, and where you actually stand. The spread usually turns on this card.
In the Future position: Read as tendency: where this leans if nothing changes. A statement about the present phrased as a direction — never a claim about what will happen.

Pentacles · Element: Earth

Pentacles govern the material and the body: work, resources, time, whether a thing has actually landed in the world. The slowest of the four suits and the only one that counts in years. Its trouble is mistaking holding for security, or waiting for stagnation.

Seven

Seven is the moment that requires your own judgement: hold, choose, assess, go around. All four Sevens ask for a decision nobody can make for you.
