Six Doors · No. 22
第22卦 贲 Bì · Grace
Essence: Grace adorns but never carries; end in plain white.
I
Judgment
Form and beauty have their rightful place: graceful presentation lets substance travel further. But ornament wins only small victories—never rest a major decision on appearances. The ideal is form that fits its content exactly, and finally, the confidence to go plain.

The lines
- Line 1Adorn your own two feet and walk; declining the carriage you have not earned is the truest style.
- Line 2A beard is only as fine as the chin it grows from; ornament rides on substance and adds nothing alone.
- Line 3Graced and glistening, this ease is lovely—and corrosive if you settle into it; keep your discipline running underneath.
- Line 4Stripped of finery, arriving on a white horse—what looked doubtful is a true suitor; simplicity here means sincerity.
- Line 5In the hillside garden with only a meager roll of silk to offer—embarrassing at first, but sincerity outweighs the gift, and it ends well.
- Line 6The highest adornment is white—no adornment at all; when form completes itself, it disappears.
